BASC has unveiled a new system of legal cover for its members that sees them covered to the tune of £100,000.

From 1 March 2014, BASC members will have their legal expenses covered for appeals against firearms licensing decisions.

The organisation said this was in response to concerns that licensing departments were reluctant to make decisions in difficult cases, preferring that courts take responsibility.

BASC’s David Ilsley said: “BASC is constantly working to improve and expand the benefits that we can provide to members.  Adding legal expenses cover to our existing insurance package means we believe we have developed the best possible membership package and are offering the best possible advantages to BASC members.”
