Billed as the pinnacle of thermal imaging technology currently available in the UK consumer, the Trail is a rifle-mounted thermal scope (see its sibling, the Helion, for a spotter version) boasts a higher-definition image than its predecessors, powered by a smooth 50Hz refresh rate.
A B-pack battery unit is a welcome addition, giving the user around eight hours of continuous use. Detection range is up to a staggering 1800m on man-sized objects, while smooth graduated magnification allows the user to adjust the zoom effectively whatever range. Video out, stadiametric rangefinder, gyroscope, accelerometer and wireless control are all included in the high-tech unit.
