Stable events, the company which runs The Game Fair, the GWCT Scottish Game Fair and the World Gunmakers’ Evening, has further strengthened its ties and commitment to the shooting industry following their acquisition of Gun Trade News.

The B2B publication has been a major part of the industry for many years and the change of ownership, from media giant Future Publishing to the fast-growing Stable Events portfolio, is a logical step for both parties.

Stable Events’ managing director, James Gower, explained: “We know Gun Trade News perfectly complements our growing portfolio of live events. Our continued growth and success is proof of our strategy in action. This acquisition honours our ongoing strategy of expanding our reach and commitment to the industry.

“We look forward to working alongside the existing team to introduce new contributors and further strengthening the publication whilst maintaining neutrality and journalistic integrity.”

Future says the move will allow it to concentrate on its strong B2C titles in the sector, including The Field, Shooting Times, Airgun Shooter and Sporting Gun.

A statement from Future added: “Future Publishing has a vested interest in The Game Fair and is pleased to extend this collaboration by passing on the GTN baton, as its team continues with what has been a trade stalwart for so many years.”

The company also confirmed that editor Steve Faragher would remain in his current role, with the Stable Events team handling advertising bookings, going forward.

The final GTN produced under Future will be issue 72, sent out on November 19th.
