Eley Hawk’s new Eco Wad was a popular draw for the environmentally-friendly shooter at the British Shooting Show, and now BASC have joined the cause by encouraging guns to recycle single-use plastics.
As Outstanding Contribution to Conservation winners, BASC have joined Agri-Cycle to ensure that cartridge cases are recycled.
Caroline Bedell, BASC’s executive director of conservation said: “BASC accepts there is no ‘quick fix’ to the wider issues in our environment, an issue which is rightly receiving world-wide prominence.
“BASC has started to take action on its own use of plastics… but we also want to give full support to cartridge manufacturers to develop and market alternatives.”
BASC Chairman, Peter Glenser added: “There is always a checklist of jobs to be done and we would urge people to add plastics to that list. So while the start of the next season may see a long way away right now, now is the time to look at options and take actions.”
