According to the Road Haulier’s Association (RHA) the volume of exports going through British ports to the EU has fallen an extraordinary 68 per cent compared to January last year.

The dramatic drop in the volume of traffic carried on ferries and through the Channel tunnel has been reported to Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove by the RHA after a survey of its international members.

In a letter to Gove dated 1 February, the RHA’s chief executive, Richard Burnett, also told the minister he and his officials had repeatedly warned over several months of problems and called for measures to lessen difficulties.

Figures for how the gun trade has been affected are not available, which is why we are running a GTN survey asking you about your experiences. We have been joined in this by the Gun Trade Association. Simon West, head of the GTA said: “It’s vital that we work out what impact this new trading environment is having on our businesses so that we can lobby parliament on behalf of the gun trade.”

The GTN/GTA survey is available here on the GTN website, www.guntradenews.com, and also on the GTA website, gtaltd.co.uk, and will be open until the end of February.

It takes around five minutes to complete, and we will publish the results in the next issue, landing on doormats from 19 March. Please take part by filling out the form below…
