A Warwickshire clay shooting club has raised £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support from a single sponsored event.

Springbrook Gun Club has just 34 members who all rallied round to support a sponsored shoot earlier in the summer. Club President Howard Aucote says: “A number of our members know from personal experience the value of the work that Macmillan Cancer Support does, and everyone put in a huge effort to make the day a fundraising success. Our members raised money from individual sponsorships and we also received some very generous donations. We are extremely grateful to everyone who helped in our aim to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan.”

The money raised has gone to Macmillan’s #macbrum campaign which aims to raise £250,000 for its services in Birmingham and the Black Country.

Regional Fundraising Manager Sara Johnson, who accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity, says: “Every day, 34 people in Birmingham and the Black Country are diagnosed with cancer and our macbrum campaign allows us to support those people. I can’t thank Springbrook and all who took part enough for the amazing amount of money they raised in their sponsored shoot, it really was phenomenal and will go so far in helping people living with cancer.”
