The Royal Berkshire Shooting School has announced the arrival of Alastair Phillips as Gunroom and Shop Manager in August. Alastair has over 15 years of experience in the industry and is recognised, throughout the industry, as having a fantastic and in depth knowledge of shotguns, rifles and retail allied to a passion for providing the very best advice and service.

Alastair, who joins from William Evans where he was General Manager, said: “I am really looking forward to starting this exciting new chapter in my career. One of my main tasks will be looking at a greater depth of guns on offer, both British and Foreign.

After first starting his career in the trade at 18, working for Holt’s Auctioneers, Alastair climbed the industry ladder at William Evans. He was key in the development of the various new gun models that have been launched since 2012 including partnerships with manufacturers such as Grulla Armas, Ceasar Guerini and Perazzi.

With a main focus now on the clients and how best to serve their requirements, Alastair added: “I am also excited about the opportunity of working alongside Purdey and introducing their range of fine guns, clothing and accessories to the RBSS client base.”

Stocking an impressive and broad range of new and second-hand shotguns and rifles from the leading manufacturers, the shop also offers a great selection of cartridges and ammunition. Using his network of contacts within the world of gunmaking craftspeople, Alastair and the team will be able to provide an outstanding service and repair facility whilst also offering the chance to part exchange or sell existing guns or rifles.
