The Game Fair stands to have boosted the Warwickshire economy by over £30 million with accommodation providers and local businesses in Alcester, Stratford and beyond set to benefit from the 120,000 visitors over three days.
James Gower said: “We have more exhibitors than last year, so we expect this years 60th anniversary event to be bigger and better than ever. The economic impact that will have on rural Warwickshire this year, and again when the event returns in 2020, is enormous.”
With hotels and B&B’s expected to pocket an added £2million, reports ahead of the event suggested that spare rooms were sparse. Beckie Vizor, from the Throckmorton Inn, just three miles from Ragley Hall, said: “We’ve been fully booked for the Game Fair weekend for a while. We are just five minutes away from Ragley Hall so we tend to be busy when the big events are there. The Game Fair is certainly good for business.”
Meanwhile Stratford-upon-Avon MP, Nadhim Zahawi commented: “I know how much the event is looked forward to and this is testament to its importance for rural communities here is my constituency and beyond. Furthermore, given that last years event generated nearly £30 million for the local area in Hertfordshire, the economic boost it will give to rural Warwickshire this year is extremely welcome.”
