Grants for rural shooting businesses

RuralThe British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) has highlighted a government scheme offering substantial grants to rural businesses, and is calling on rural shooting businesses to apply for funding.

The total money pool is £24million, with grants upwards of £35,000, offered through nine Local Enterprise Partnerships, each with different priorities for its own rural area. Priority sectors include food processing, business development and tourism.

Richard Ali, chief executive of BASC, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for those involved in shooting to secure funding to expand their contribution to the rural economy. Businesses processing game, landowners diversifying into shooting and those promoting commercial shooting could all benefit. Shooting already contributes £2 billion to the rural economy. These grants could help that figure grow.”
