MP Jim Shannon has confronted banks over discrimination against those who work in the shooting industry.
The SDP’s Mr Shannon has tabled an early day motion requesting that banks are forced to stop discriminating against gun dealers, gamekeepers and others involved in the gun trade.
Speaking to Shooting Times, Mr Shannon said: “By submitting the motion I was highlighting the policy of some banks to refuse loans to those gun dealers and gamekeepers and the shooting community as a whole.
“It is important that discrimination among some banks is addressed and that a review of all those decisions based upon bias against country sports is carried out. There should never be a denial for a loan or mortgage based upon a personal unjustified bias.”
