Eley Hawk says its new Titanium and Titanium Strike loads are fit for a new generation of clay shooting, able to break even the most resilient of targets.
The new cartridges were launched at the Northern Shooting Show, as the flagships of the clay range. Engineered to meet the demands of clay shooters, these cartridges are the fastest and hardest hitting cartridge in the Eley Hawk range.
Eduardo Hernando, Eley Hawks Managing Director commented: “This year we celebrate our 190th anniversary at Eley Hawk. Such an outstanding milestone has deeply inspired us to engineer our latest innovation for the premium clay market. A combination of new components never used before in an Eley cartridge to carry on leading shooting performance and heralding the next 190 years of future proud manufacturing in the UK.
The Titanium Strike was launched as a high velocity and performance load. It will be loaded in 28-gram and, significantly, in 24-gram versions in shot sizes of 7.5Ni (2.4mm). With a nickel coated lead shot, the Strike also features a high 25mm nickel head brass for an easy ejection. The benefits of nickel includes coating the shot with a protective layer, so less pellets are deformed at the initial ignition, as well as, protecting the pellets as they travel down the barrel.
Furthermore the shot flies down the range toward the clay in a uniform pattern with few flyers, and shot is hardened by the application of an innovative alloy coating, which increases breaking power especially on harder bio-degradable clays.
The revolutionary PSB + 3 powders are progressive slow burn powders which burn evenly and reduce recoil. The powders are also graded to burn consistently shot-to-shot thereby providing an even performance throughout a round of clays. This partners with the “A-Type” wad which provides excellent shot string distribution, improved recoil reduction, and strong dense patterns at all ranges.
The Titanium are also launched in a 28-gram shot size, with 7.5 (2.4mm) and 8 (2.3mm) shot, they are slightly larger than their Strike sisters giving the shooter extra breaking power.
Designed with a 16mm nickle head, the shot has a solid base for propelling the load and delivering a smooth ejection. The PSB +3 is engineered in-house for high-velocity and ultra smooth recoil.
The Titanium also uses “A-Type” plastic wadding for superior shot cushioning. The long history of “Kleena” wads – originally pioneered by Eley Hawk – used within the fibre wads are excellent at providing clean barrels and intense patterns.
The initial reaction from clay shooters at the Atkin Grant and Lang English Sporting Open and the official launch at the Northern Shooting Show have been overwhelmingly positive with many commenting that they are looking forward to shooting them in competition.
Strike pricesare estimated at between £310 and £330, whilst the Titanium are estimated between £300 and £315.
